Our Story
History
LOT25 is an organization that seeks to improve educational opportunities for students in Belize. Our name is based on the biblical passage from Matthew 25:40 "Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." We are a nonprofit group of teachers and one IT specialist.
The idea for the organization formed from a trip to a high risk school in San Narciso. We discovered that after the 6th grade, students must pay to continue their education. Due to widespread poverty in the area, many students cannot afford to continue.
Our primary goal is to raise funds for scholarships to support students who dream of continuing their education after primary school. These are incentives for students to perform well in their elementary years, as well as maintain good attendance. They must meet these requirements in order to qualify for a scholarship.
Why We're Invested
Laura
“The friendships and foundations we have made in Belize have altered me as a person. I have learned so much from them and continue to do so each time we are together. I want nothing more than to give the students of SNRC the best chance at success and to support their families however we can.”
Alli
“I have always had a strong passion for teaching children and making a difference in their lives. After my first trip to San Narciso RC school, my love for teaching grew into making stronger connections with the families and community in Belize. I hope to have had as much of an impact on these students as they have had on me.”
Carly
"My first trip to Belize was as an undergrad at OU in March of 2018. Since then, I have not been able to stay away! I have built lifelong connections with the community, and appreciate their generosity during our trips. SNRC has continued to welcome our group with open arms and we look forward to the time we get in the classrooms. These trips are a humbling experience, and I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to meet this amazing community to go with us!
